GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!
05/02/2009
On Saturday 7th February TNAG will send 30 gymnasts to the Norfolk Grades Championships in Norwich. The girls will contest 10 different grades from grade 14 for the relative beginners, through to Compuslory 2, the Elite Grade, at the very highest end of the grading system, which is all set to make this one of the most exciting county championships in many years.
For many of TNAG's competitors this is their first competition - this is the case for 7 members of the 01 Elite Development Squad and 6 of the Club Grade Foundation Squad, all competing at grade 14. The vast majority of these gymnasts had undertaken no gymnastics at all prior to the Academy opening in January 2008 and only started squad training last April. Therefore, it is the first time the club can really showcase its home grown talents who will become its stars of the future. The grade 14 8-9 years age group will be particularly hotly contested with a total of 20 gymnasts taking part representing 4 different clubs across Norfolk.
Other potential highlights include the grade 13 competition where TNAG has 4 very strong representatives across the two age groups and grade 12 where Shyla Norkett (competing for only the second time for TNAG) takes on contenders from 3 other clubs. Sienna Sprong makes her competitive return after a long illness and break from the sport at grade 11 with Georgia Bunn and Megan Clarke who is making her competitive debut for TNAG.
Grace Ashworth (grade 8) and Summer Kenzitt (age 6) represent the Academy at the new National Club Grades and each faces a competitor from Norwich GC.
TNAG has by far the largest representation at the elite end of the competition with entrants in each of the 4 elite compulsory grades. Harmony Kanzitt, aged only 7, competes at compuslory 5 and Bethany Harmer, aged 8, at compulsory 4. They both have stiff competition from amongst the counties' other clubs. At the two highest grades - compulsory 3 and compulsory 2, TNAG provides the only participants but within them both their will be fierce competition within TNAG's own ranks. Lucy Jarvis and Polina Polyakova compete for the compuslory 3 title and Angel Kenzitt and Emily Crowe the compulsory 2 elite grade.
Good luck wishes to all of our competitors!
