TNAG TALENT SELECTION DAY SET FOR 9 MARCH

If your daughter has seen our competitive girls in training, or Beth Tweddle on the TV, and wants to be just like them, now is her chance!
We will be holding our first Talent Selection Day on Sunday 9 March 2008 with a view to selecting girls to enter our squad programme and be prepared for competitive gymnastics.
Girls that we have spotted during our recreational classes as possibly having the potential to pursue the sport at a high level will be given invitations to the Selection Day but it is also open to all of our other gymnasts (we might have missed some of the talented ones!) and also those not currently attending classes at TNAG and even those not doing gymnastics at all yet (including those on our waiting list). This is because the aim of the day is to identify potential rather than current skill level.
The trial will consist of several fun based activities to test physical attributes such as speed, strength, flexibility and natural rebound ability and the girls' mental attributes such as confidence, bravery and willingness to learn will also be assessed.
The trials will be in age groups and will run at the following times:
Girls born 2003 : 10am - 11am
Girls born 2002 : 11.30am - 12.30am
Girls born 2001 : 2pm - 3.30pm
Girls born 2000 and older : 3.00pm - 4.30pm
Successful trialists will be notified as soon as possible after the trial and offered a place in the Elite Development Squad for their age group (in the case of the 2003, 2002 and 2001 born children) or an intermediate class (for the older girls), for the term starting in April.
Training times for the new groups are still being finalised but entrants into the groups will be expected to make a commitment to gymnastics and the weekly training requirements are likely to be 2 x 1 1/2 hour sessions for the 2003 and 2002 born girls, 3 x 1 1/2 to 2 hour sessions for the 2001 born girls, and 1-2 2 hour sessions for the 2000 plus girls who will enter the intermediate groups.
